Fall Newsletter 2016

feet

Good Day to you all!  It’s been nearly two months since our last newsletter and we certainly haven’t had a shortage of things happening in our lives.   One of the more recent happenings was the chance to sit back and relax as observed in the photo above.   (A vacation to the Outer Banks NC.)  Feel free to browse other pictures below for an update on our lives and other events at Mirror Image Farms.

Three particular items worth mentioning are our products.

  • Pork – Due to our boar needing to meet his maker earlier than necessary,  we have a few pigs available from the pasture this Fall yet.  If you have interest in pork this Fall please don’t hesitate to contact us.   The boar is off to the Restaurant.   Also of interest is our Freezer Pork.  We have assorted cuts to choose from directly from the freezer for those who want pork in smaller quantities.
  • Beef – Is not currently in our freezers nor will it be available till next June-November 2017.  However, we do need to start hearing from you about your interests and whether Beef is something you are looking for next year.  As with the production of all other animals, and perhaps more so beef, there is a great deal of planning that must happen.   If possible, please inform us of your interest.  January 2017 we will begin taking down payments on any orders, so as to ensure that you get your share.
  • Garlic – And lastly, we have garlic hanging in the braid. It works well as decor or for culinary delights.  There are a few braids with larger bulbs that would do well as seed stock.  Now is the time to plant your garlic for an early summer harvest in 2017.

pawpaws
Mid September is Pawpaw season. Pawpaws are the largest fruit native to North America.

Autumn berries at the home farm in Quarryville. Hope to market these next year.

Samson the boar enjoying apples in his last days. With too many miss-fires in getting our sows bred, it’s time for the beast to go. We’ll miss Samson.
Last year's apple harvest was a bin buster. This year's hasn't been to bad either. Apples tend to have an on year and then and off year. I guess they're breaking the rules this year. These apples are drops from local orchards that we feed to the pigs.

Until next time, be sure to enjoy the seasons as they change. It’s easy to be too busy to enjoy the moments around us.

Regards,

Tyler & Joella Neff
